Becoming a generalist: takeaways from AWS Twin Strikes

Grateful to the Amazon family for the invitation to the Twin Strikes: AWS Agentic AI & Cloud event. A truly insightful experience I wanted to share a few takeaways from.

First, the question everyone keeps asking: will AI take our jobs? Sam Dabboussi, Head of GTM MENAT at AWS, had a clear and sharp answer:

“No, but a person who uses AI will.”

Another point that really stuck with me: we’re entering an era where senior generalists are becoming more valuable than deep specialists. The importance of senior professionals with cross-domain command is growing significantly, while the value of nurturing and developing junior talent, something that mattered long before AI, was also emphasized.

This made me reflect on my own path. I’ve spent years defining myself as an Unreal Engine Specialist, Technical Designer, or Generalist. But building agentic AI workflows, working on the web side of things, delivering simulation projects, and implementing cross-application solutions with or without Unreal Engine has quietly been pushing me toward something broader than game development. This event made me realize I’m no longer just a specialist in one tool. I’m on my way to becoming an overall generalist, and I think that’s the right direction.

I also had the opportunity to attend a fantastic workshop guided by Ahmet Yazıcı and Sümeyye Ergüven, where we got hands-on with AWS Bedrock AgentCore. If you’re building agentic workflows, running parallel agents, or looking to build a fully controlled agent flow loop, I highly recommend exploring it.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone mentioned above for their personal attention, and for so generously sharing their experience and knowledge. Truly appreciated.
