Description and Responsibilities
I undertook this project as an intensive 1-week sprint to challenge my prototyping skills and technical adaptability. My goal was to deliver a fully playable 3rd-person space combat experience that meets specific complex requirements within a strict timeframe.
Spaceship Flight Mechanics: Features a versatile ship control system including jet boost, stealth mode, barrel rolls, and dodge maneuvers for fluid navigation.
Combat Dynamics: Includes homing missiles, 3 distinct blast gun types with dynamic recoil, and a Locational Damage System (e.g., critical cockpit hits vs. wing damage).
Advanced AI Logic - Developed complex behavioral patterns using Behavior Trees, featuring 5 distinct enemy archetypes:
Chaser: Chases the player and executes frontal attacks.
Kamikaze: Explodes on impact.
Stealth: Ambush and retreat tactics.
Skirmisher: Utilizes dodge mechanics.
Bomber: Deploys space mines.
UI/UX: Dynamic HUD with directional damage indicators, reactive screen effects, recoil effects, health indicators and active missions.
Technical Art: Implemented shaders for burning and disintegration destruction effects.
