Defense Training Simulation - Hardware & Motion Integration Case
Defense Training Simulation - Hardware & Motion Integration Case | Diving into multi-platform training simulations
Roles
Description and Responsibilities
In addition to the core PC module, I developed specialized hardware integrations for this Battle Tactics Simulation Room. My main challenge was synchronizing visual immersion (HTC Vive) with physical motion feedback (KAT VR) in real-time.
HTC Vive Integration & Weapon Mechanics: Implemented HTC Vive for the core visual experience. I developed realistic weapon mechanics that offer a 1:1 gun handling experience, allowing users to aim manually, reload, and fire naturally as they would in real life.
KAT VR Locomotion: Integrated KAT VR treadmills to allow infinite physical movement within a limited space. The custom locomotion system translates physical running into in-game movement, decoupling head rotation from walking direction for comfortable navigation.
Advanced Interaction System: Designed a flexible interaction logic that allows players to seamlessly enter and exit various vehicles, operate surveillance drones, and switch to a top-down tactical map view for strategic command.
VR UI/UX Design: Developed tactical interfaces and menu systems specifically optimized for VR. Focused on ensuring a seamless user experience where menus are intuitive and do not break the immersion.
