Description and Responsibilities
For the Galactic Freaks project, I worked on transforming "Kitty," a character originally created with a hand-painted style, into a realistic MetaHuman. This case study shows how I used MetaHuman DNA to bridge the gap between stylized art and realism while setting up a full animation workflow.
Style Transformation: I used MetaHuman DNA to turn the hand-painted character model into a realistic one. The main goal was to keep the character's original identity while upgrading it to a realistic look.
Animation Retargeting: I successfully retargeted standard animations onto the custom MetaHuman skeleton, ensuring that the body movements work correctly and look natural.
Facial Animation & Posing: I used iPhone Live Link to capture facial expressions in real-time. Afterward, I used the MetaHuman Face Control Board to manually refine these animations and create detailed poses for the character.
Game-Ready Optimization: I optimized the character model to make it fully playable in the game. My goal was to achieve high performance while keeping all the details and the realistic look of the character.
